YOUNG50 #Stay Healthy - Cardiovascular Risk Prevention

Romania starts with the implementation of the screening activities!

In Romania the implementation of the screening activities for identification of behavioral and biological risk factors for cardio-vascular diseases included in the European project Young 50 have started in September 2021.

The program is organised at local level through cooperation between NGO Aer Pur Romania, Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Cluj-Napoca, Romania and Public Health Directorate of Cluj county, Romania.

The program is implemented in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The recruitment of the participants is performed with the help of the general practitioners (GPs) and screening activities are performed by members of the Young 50 project team in the office of the GPs.

The participants with behavioural risk factors receive educational leaflets – prepared by the C&D partner leader ProMIS according to the Romanian inputs – and are invited to educational activities, while participants with biological risk factors are directed to their GPs for further diagnoses, treatment and monitoring.

The first participant was involved in the screening activities on 21 of September.

The pictures present the first participant from Romania (Dorina Kovacs, woman) together with her GP who generously accepted to support the implementation of the project (Dr. Bianca Cojan Minzat) and with members of the Young 50 project team involved in screening and educational activities (Dr. Lucia Lotrean, coordinator of the Young 50 project in Romania and PhD students Dr. Cristina Patrut and Dr. Ioana Trifescu). The Covid-19 epidemiological situation at this moment in Romania and in Cluj-Napoca is interfering with the spread and acceleration of the screening and educational activities, but the population is receptive to participation in the activities of the project.
